Bridge of Heroes Update: Lion B. Hadfield said the flags went up on the 26th and came down last Thursday for Memorial day. The flags will go up on June 26th for the July 4th display. It doesn’t look like Pioneer Pipe will be able to build our brackets before the next display, so we will be building our own for the trailer and there will be some cost associated with that. We will be set up at First Friday this Friday for anyone who wants to come out and help man the table.
Father’s Day Car Show: Lion L. Hawn said the guy who usually hands out many of the car shows flyers died, so they are doing some advertising in the papers, on WMOA, and on the WTAP community calendar. They will also be doing talk of the town to get the word out that we’re back this year. Lion K. Burnworth with send out an email for volunteer help for that day. Big signs are up at the entrances to the city and smaller signs are located along Muskingum Park and at 3rd and Putnam.

Lion B. Burnworth said the baseball field costs have come in around $4,800 which is about $1,800 more than expected. Lion B. Burnworth made a motion to donate an additional $500 toward the project. Lion B. Ferguson seconded the motion. There was discussion about how much we’ve already given, that they may try to get grants from the community foundation to make up the difference or have it come out of individual pockets on the community to support the use in Devola. Lion’s B. Hadfield, L. Peterson, and T. Henderson all pledged individual donations. Lion S. Stormes made a motion to increase the donation to $1,000 instead of $500. Lion B. Fergusion seconded that amended motion and it passed. Lion B. Burnworth said there is already a group using the field weekly for pick up games on Wednesday like the Sandlot. The Marietta Noon Lions sign is being made and will be dropped off for Lion B. Burnworth to paint before it’s hung at the field.
Lion O. Cartmell said that Skye Elliott is working on her Gold Award (the highest award a Girl Scout can earn) project to erect blessing boxes throughout the city. She has already met with the mayor and received council approval. Lion O. Cartmell made a motion to donate $200 toward her project. Lion B. Burnworth seconded the motion and the motion passed. Lion O. Cartmell will reach out to Skye to invite her to a meeting to receive the check.
Lion J. Schneider said he received a flyer about a Behavioral Health back to school fair for school supplies. It was more of an FYI than a motion to donate anything. There was some discussion about how the free event draws out everyone and we’d rather support supplies for those in need or for teachers like we’ve done in the past.
Membership (50) Lion J. Greene said we’re still at 50 members and she has no additional report.
Publicity: Lion S. Camacho was not present and there is no report.
