Membership (45) Lion G. Ingram
Lion G. Ingram said he had two items to share. The first was an article from the Lions magazine about the Land O Lakes Club that had 7 members in 2013 and is now at 78 members. They listed 5 tips: 1) Do projects that matter, 2) Celebrate wins, 3) Show the Lions experience, 4) Be welcoming, and 5) Just Ask. He also said there is still the issue of the lunches and how we move forward. He wanted to know if we’d be able to reduce the menu down to about 5 items that people could pre-order from as part of their RSVP. We’ll know what we’re having because we picked it and there should be less in/out of the wait staff during the meetings. Anyone who doesn’t RSVP can still order off the menu when they arrive. Lion S. Camacho said whatever items we pick CAN be added to the RSVP link.
Lion S. Camacho said a couple of people who attended the BoH luncheon with Commonwealth financial showed interest in joining the club. Lion B. Ferguson knows them and will reach out to invite them to a lunch.
Publicity: Lion S. Camacho
Updates from BoH Posted – Lion S. Camacho said she gives a huge thank you to BoH Chair Steve Stormes for regularly sending her items to post on Facebook to advertise BoH. She regularly schedules posts for it each week from pictures and updates that he’s sent her. Just a reminder that it helps our visibility and membership to share the posts. She can’t always tag the corporate sponsors but any share helps the algorithim and increases our visibility on facebook.
Lion P. Byers asked about Leadership training since the leadership school just passed. Lion S. Camacho said local/regional leadership training is closed for this Lion’s year, but there is always training through the Lions Portal under the Learn tab when you sign in. Anyone can watch the training videos for any position to further their Lions education.
Scholarship: Lion R. Ferguson
Lion R. Ferguson said the updated total through May 31st is $86,110.38. Thank you to Lion B. and P. Byers for representing us at the scholarship ceremony. He said he had a chance to talk to the Community Foundation President, Heather, and she was pleased we went from 2 to 3 scholarships this year. The Foundation will also be purchasing 10 flags for the Bridge this year. As always, thank you to those who continue to donate to this fund.
Old Business:
none
New Buisiness: none
We did Good of the order and adjourned. As part of Good of the Order, Lion C. Archer asked for an update on the shoe collection. Lion S. Camacho said we collected 53 bags of shoes from our club (~1400 pair of shoes) and are well on our way to have the full 90 bags to be an official pick up site here locally with contributions from Beverly, Albany/Alexander, and others. State-wide, it looks like we will come close to, if not hit the goal of 400 bags. Lion B. Ferguson reminded us that we’ve lost 2 spouses of long time Lions in a short time and to please keep Lion Ohlen and Lion Dennis and their families in our prayers.
Respectfully submitted, Secretary Lion K. Burnworth
