Secretary’s Report:Lion S. Marshall
The minutes from the August board meeting were emailed to the club. Lion B. Byers made a motion to accept
and Lion R. Ferguson seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report: Lion P. Byers
The Treasurer’s Report for the July balances was not available at the August meeting, so the July report was
presented for approval at this meeting. Lion Sh. Stormes made a motion to accept the July report, and Lion L.
Peterson seconded the motion. The motion passed. The Treasurer’s figures for August were emailed to the club.
The Activity balance stands at $40,384.58, and the Admin balance is $11,400.38. Lion O. Cartmel made a
motion to accept the August report, and Lion T. Henderson seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Service Chair Report: Lion S. Camacho
Roadside Clean-up: Lion K. Burnworth reported ahead of the meeting that the September Roadside Clean-up
will be held on Sunday, September 20th at 8am. For further questions, please email Lion K. Burnworth.
Dolly Day: Lion S. Camacho notified the Board via email that she would like to host “Dolly Day” during the
club’s September 25th lunch meeting and requested $500 to support the hands-on service project planned for
that day. Lion Sh. Stormes made a motion to approve the $500 expenditure, and Lion Jf. Cline seconded the
motion. The motion passed.
2nd VP Report:Lion Sh. Stormes
Bridge of Heroes Update: Lion St. Stormes reported that the next flag installation for Bridge of Heroes is
scheduled for September 8th at 9am. in recognition of the 25th anniversary of Patriot Day. The flags will be up
throughout Sternwheel weekend, with takedown scheduled for September 15th at 9am. Lion St. Stormes will
send out an email with additional details and volunteer information.
Jeep Poker Run Fundraiser: Lion St. Stormes reported that, despite the low attendance for the event’s first year,
the Jeep Poker Run went smoothly overall. He believes the event provides a good foundation that the club can
continue to build upon in future years.
Annual Rose Sale: Lion S. Camacho reported through Lion Sh. Stormes that orders for the Annual Rose Sale
are due by September 18th. Roses will be delivered on October 23rd in the Lafayette Hotel parking lot.
Members should report their orders to Lion S. Camacho.

President’s Report:Lion R. Hadfield
August Zone Meeting: Lion R. Hadfield reported that the August Zone Meeting was held in Belpre and
provided a variety of information and updates from throughout the zone.
This year’s Winter Retreat will be held at Salt Fork State Park from January 15th-17th. Additional information
is included in the flyer below.
Lion R. Hadfield also reminded the club that the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival will be held September
2nd-5th.
Lion Linda Savage distributed a flyer at the Zone Meeting with suggestions for ways Lions Clubs can help raise
diabetes awareness within their communities. Additional information is included in the flyer below.
Lions Weeks of Service: Information was shared regarding the three Lions Weeks of Service for the 2026-2027
year. This year’s service weeks will focus on Vision from October 8th-18th, Youth from February 13th-21st,
and the Environment from May 29th-June 6th. Clubs are encouraged to plan service projects related to each of
these areas. Additional information is included in the flyer below.
Zanesville Host Lions Club Basket Raffle: The Zanesville Lions Club is holding its annual basket raffle to
support its local LifeWise Program. This year’s grand prize is an Amish Country getaway, with additional
second and third place prizes available. Tickets are 3 for $10 or 7 for $20, and the drawing will be held on
October 6th. Additional information is included in the flyer below.
Lions International Convention: Lion R. Hadfield reported that the next Lions International Convention will be
held in Washington, D.C., from July 2nd-6th, 2027. Future convention locations will include Singapore,
Minneapolis, MN, and San Antonio, TX.
Thank-You Notes: Lion R. Hadfield read thank-you notes received by the club from Harvest of Hope in
appreciation of the club’s donation, as well as from the Civil War Round Table of the Mid-Ohio Valley.
LCIF Coordinator:Lion B. Byers
Lion B. Byers reminded members to keep the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) in mind when
considering making personal charitable donations. Contributions to LCIF help support Lions’ humanitarian and
service efforts in communities around the world.
Community & Youth:Lions R. Burnworth/L. Hawn
Habitat for Humanity Fundraising Dinner: Lion L. Hawn reported that Habitat for Humanity reached out to the
club regarding a sponsorship opportunity for its upcoming fundraising dinner. The requested $4,000
sponsorship would include two tables with a total of 16 seats. Before further discussing the sponsorship, the
Board agreed that additional information was needed. Lion L. Hawn will look into the sponsorship opportunity
and provide more information to the club.
Peoples Bank Theatre Holiday Sponsorship: Lion L. Hawn reported on an opportunity for the club to once again
sponsor the Peoples Bank Theatre during the holiday season, as it did last year. Discussion was held regarding
the potential sponsorship amount and the club’s interest in participating again this year. Lion L. Hawn will
gather additional information and report back at the next Board meeting before any further action is taken.
Membership (47):Lion G. Ingram
Lion B. Byers made a motion to drop Michael Boersma from the roster in good standing, and Lion R. Ferguson
seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Lion Jessica Cline was officially inducted as a new member of the club during the meeting, with Lion Sh.
Stormes serving as her sponsor. The club’s official roster now stands at 47 members.
Club Membership & Friday Programs: Lion G. Ingram distributed copies of the club’s brochure, which is
typically used when promoting the club within the community, as a reminder that the club is always looking to
welcome new members. Members are encouraged to share the brochure and keep potential new members in
mind. Lion G. Ingram also encouraged members to consider arranging a program when it is their assigned turn
to host a Friday lunch. Having programs provides additional interest during the weekly lunches and helps keep
members informed about organizations, activities, and other happenings throughout the community.

Old Business:
Lafayette Hotel Lunches Follow-Up: Lion R. Hadfield reported that he spoke with Launa at the Lafayette Hotel
regarding the club’s new Friday lunch arrangement. The hotel staff believes the new format is working well so
far. The Board thanked Lion G. Ingram for developing the proposal and for his efforts in working with the
Lafayette Hotel to implement the new arrangement.
Membership Dues: Lion B. Byers reported that dues notices have once again been sent to members who have
not yet paid their annual club dues.
New Business:
District Meat & Cheese Sale: Lion K. Burnworth is serving as the chairperson for this year’s District Meat &
Cheese Sale and recently distributed the order form to club members. Orders are due by October 10th and
should be collected through Lions Club members only, rather than being offered directly to the public.
Discussion was also held about once again donating meat and cheese to a group within the community as part of
the fundraiser. Last year, donations were provided to local teachers and school staff. The Board agreed to allow
Lion K. Burnworth, as chairperson, to determine how to move forward with this year’s community donation.
Great Race: Lion R. Ferguson reported that he spoke with his contact involved with the Great Race regarding its
return to Marietta in 2027. His contact shared that, although the Great Race has traditionally not visited the
same city twice, one of the reasons for its return to Marietta is the involvement and support provided by the
Lions Club during its previous visit. Organizers are once again looking for the club’s involvement when the race
returns. The Great Race is scheduled to arrive in Marietta on Thursday, June 24th, 2027. Due to the Thursday
arrival, there will not be a car show as there was during the previous event. The Board is coordinating to have
the Bridge of Heroes flags, which are scheduled to be displayed for Independence Day, put up early so they will
also be in place for the Great Race.
Good of the Order:
Lion Sh. Stormes reminded members to be mindful of the club’s newest members when sending group emails
and to ensure they are included on all appropriate club communications and email lists.
Lion L. Hawn also shared examples of potential Friday lunch programs, noting that members could present on
personal hobbies or interests, such as his own coin or pin collections.
