Service Chair Report: Lion Sh. Stormes
Lion K. Burnworth said our final roadside cleanup of 2024 was on November 2nd and we had 7 volunteers. It was fun, as usual, and nice to see Lion D. Sipe join us this time. We will resume pick up next year in March.
Lion Sh. Stormes said our Fall Into Service project at the Pollinator Garden was a success. We had 7 Lions show up and 7 Girl Scouts along with their mothers, and even some high schoolers. We did more work than expected and made more progress than we thought in that 2 hour time frame. It was nice to see the community collaboration.
Lion Sh. Stormes said she hasn’t ordered the blankets for the District Project yet but that she has coordinated with someone to pick them up for us in Westerville when she does.
Next month, we’ll be signing cards for the nursing home and will also have the meat/cheese trays to prep and deliver to the teachers.
2nd VP Report: Lion B. Hadfield
Bridge of Heroes Update: Lion B. Hadfield was not present but sent his report to Lion J. Greene. Flag take down will be on Saturday, November 16th at 9am starting at the building. For those who can’t make it during the week, this is the opportunity to come out and help.
Rose Sale Recap: Lion T. Davis was not present but Lion J. Greene said we sold 675 roses and it went well that day. Lion Sh. Stormes, B. Burnworth, K. Hadfield, and J. Greene all had community members sponsor roses for the Strecker Cancer Center and Lion K. Hadfield delivered 40 dozen of them that day and the remaining 13 dozen went to the Eve Shelter. Lion K. Hadfield’s work/staff have already committed to buying 100 dozen next year. Lion B. Burnworth said we need to get Lions stickers and make sure they go on all of the boxes next year.
1st VP Report: Lion P. Byers
Sight saving 3 Applications, 2 approved , 0 denied, 1 referred & 0 pending.
President’s Report: Lion J. Greene said that we got 10 responses from the Community Needs Assessment and those results were emailed to the club. It’s clear from the feedback that many organizations already exist that support the needs in the community but they could use help both financially and with volunteer hours to fulfill their missions. Please review the survey results and think of ways we can engage with those organizations. We may need to create flyers to distribute that ask them to let us know of events where they could use our help. We’ll look to do this survey again in a few years and may tailor the survey more instead of using it straight from the Lions Clubs website.
LCIF Coordinator: Lion O. Cartmell said he pulled the disaster grants issued for July and August of 2024 worldwide and LCIF has given $1, 742, 295.00 in those 2 months which is astounding. He will pass around the sheet of grants given at this Friday’s meeting.
Community & Youth: Lion B. Burnworth
Habitat for Humanity Callahan Auction – Lion B. Burnworth made a motion to donate $500 to Habitat for their annual auction. Lion Sh. Stormes seconded the motion and the motion passed.
Ely Chapman Education Foundation – Lion B. Burnworth made a motion to donate $185 to cover camp for 1 student who cannot afford it. Lion Sh. Stormes seconded the motion and the motion passed.
Lion B. Burnworth said there’s been interest in attending a soccer game to support our Lions sponsored team and providing after game snacks/drinks. The league has been in disarray, but he will let us know the schedule when it comes out so we can pick a weekend to cheer on the team.
Lion B. Burnworth said the Bureau of Fiscal Services (formerly Public Debt) teams up with the Military Veterans Resource Committee to hand-deliver cards to veterans in the Armed Forces Retirement Homes. He will bring blank cards to a meeting for us to pass around and sign to support this project.
Membership (52) Lion J. Greene said that Lion L. Tennant has paid her dues to Lion S. Camacho and will bring them to Friday’s meeting. We did receive an email resignation notice from Jeff and Pat Adkins. Their health hasn’t been great and they have been unable to participate. We hope that they will rejoin in the future. Lion S. Camacho made a motion to drop them in good standing. Lion B. Burnworth seconded the motion and the motion passed.

Old Business:
100th Anniversary Recap – Lion J. Greene said it was a wonderful event and it happened with very few issues (the speaker system wasn’t great and we almost didn’t have black linens). Those present shared their thoughts and said it was very nice and good to see Lions from their past.
Marietta Main Street Christmas Parade: There was conversation about who could be there that day, whose truck and trailer, what decorations, etc. Lion L. Hawn will use his truck and pull a trailer that will be mounted with flags and banners to advertise the Bridge of Heroes. Lion S. Camacho will have 2 car magnets made to be placed on the truck. If you can ride in the trailer or walk in the parade that night. Please let Lion L. Hawn or Lion B. Burnworth know.

Peace Poster Contest Update: Lion J. Greene relayed information shared via email from Lion B. Johnson that the contest was shared with 4 different school districts and, unfortunately, not one of them participated so we had no posters. We sill try again next year.
Citizenship Essay Contest: Lion B. Burnworth said he has reached out to his contact, Brittani, at the school and she loves the idea. He will coordinate with her to get the details and have the students participate when things slow down for him at work.
New Ideas Committee: Lion B. Burnworth said he hasn’t forgotten about this committee but he’s been slammed. He will reach out to those who said they were interested. Stay tuned.
Shirt Order Update: no update.
New Business:

We did Good of the order and Lion L. Hawn shared that he and Lion T. There is also now a combination lock on the building and the code was emailed to the members. He and Tom continue to work on reinforcing the door so it’s not so flimsy.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted, Secretary Lion K. Burnworth
