Just a few of our members were part of this! Welcome to our newest member, Britani Merritt, and congratulations to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Washington County, and our members Chris Rynd and Becca Smeby-Johnson!
What an evening! Approximately 30 people joined us to learn more about the Foundation at our Nonprofit Open House. We were so pleased to meet several new community members and chat with old friends too.
It was certainly an evening to remember, as we announced the winners of our 2022 Nonprofit Challenge, sponsored by Superior Toyota Hyundai.
Tommy Hathaway, Owner of Superior Toyota, and Ryan Morris, Sales Manager, were able to join us. In addition to selecting our final auxiliary winner and announcing second place, they surprised us by increasing their sponsorship level for 2023! We are sincerely appreciative of Superior Toyota’s continued support, and we’re sure that future competing nonprofits share our sentiments!
In addition to Tommy and Ryan, two of last year’s winners were able to join and help reveal this year’s top winners. Thank you, Connie from the O’Neill Center and Bruce from Ohio State – Washington County 4-H for assisting with the announcement.
We’re now pleased to announce the final results:
Nine competing nonprofits raised nearly $8,000 for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Washington County. This sum allowed for 110 children to be enrolled in the program!
Five auxiliary prizes were awarded. Each prize unlocked $500 toward the Imagination Library, with the winning organization getting credit in their total amount raised.

The Right Path for Washington County will be using their winnings to support their Mini Farmer’s Markets. These markets introduce local youth to fresh produce; encouraging a healthy mind, spirit, and body.
“It is so exciting and I’m humbled too,” said an overjoyed Cathy Harper, Director of The Right Path for Washington County. “It was such a great project to be able to help the Imagination Library as well. I can’t believe what a great partner Superior Toyota is. We’ve participated in the Challenge every year, but this is the first time we’ve came close to winning, and it’s so wonderful to have won because we want to be able to continue our markets in 2023, and we will be celebrating 20 years of The Right Path. It is so important to keep that market alive and well in our community. You know, we’re about prevention, but it begins with a healthy body. Thinking about what we’re putting into our bodies, and food is such a great connector…This is such a great tribute to our community; this family equals community. It’s just wonderful, and I’m so excited that we won. All of the organizations were fantastic; you know, it’s not like I wanted to beat anyone, but it was fun to be in the challenge. I just know that for us, this is going to be a game changer. We can do so much with this money. I’m so excited. Thank you!”
