July 1, 2026

Extend Voting Privileges to the 2026–2027 Lions Board
Lion T. Henderson made a motion to extend voting privileges to the 2026–2027 Lions Board, and Lion B. Ferguson seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Secretary Report – Lion S. Marshall
The minutes from the June board meeting were emailed to the club. Lion J. Greene made a motion to accept the minutes, and Lion Sh. Stormes seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report – Lion P. Byers
The treasurer’s figures for June were emailed prior to the board meeting with:
- Activity Fund: $40,340.58
- Admin Fund: $11,439.14
Lion O. Cartmell made a motion to accept the report, and Lion K. Burnworth seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Service Chair Report – Lion S. Camacho
No report.
2nd Vice President Report – Vacant
Father’s Day Car Show Recap
Lion L. Hawn reported there were approximately 130 cars that attended the Father’s Day Car Show at Muskingum Park on June 21. The event had a great turnout, great weather, and the 50/50 raffle raised approximately $300.
Bridge of Heroes Update
Lion St. Stormes reported the flags were installed on Tuesday, June 30, in honor of the Fourth of July and the 250th Anniversary celebration. A total of 17 volunteers helped with the installation, including Lions members, returning volunteers, and several football players from Warren High School.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the display possible.
Flag removal is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14 at 11:30 a.m.
Jeep Poker Run Fundraiser
Lion St. Stormes reminded the club that the Jeep Poker Run will be held:
- August 15
- 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Gator’s
The club will need approximately 5–6 volunteers to assist. Additional information will be sent by email.

Wreaths Across America
Lion St. Stormes shared information about Wreaths Across America, which places wreaths on veterans’ headstones during the Christmas season to honor their service and sacrifice.
Each wreath costs approximately $17.
Lion St. Stormes made a motion to donate $250 to purchase wreaths for local veterans. Lion O. Cartmell seconded the motion, and it passed.
Belpre Area Veterans
Lion St. Stormes shared that the Belpre Area Veterans are launching a project modeled after the Bridge of Heroes by displaying flags along Washington Boulevard and Main Street in Belpre.
Lion St. Stormes made a motion to donate $500 to help launch the project. Lion O. Cartmell seconded the motion, and it passed.
President’s Report – Lion B. Hadfield
Lion B. Hadfield reported that Lion B. Merritt is no longer a member of the club and was dropped before the start of the 2026–2027 Lions year.
As a result, the 2nd Vice President position is vacant. Lion B. Hadfield is seeking a member to fill the position. Until then, Lion St. Stormes has volunteered to perform the duties temporarily.
Discussion continued regarding the Friday lunches at the Lafayette Hotel. A limited menu with pre-order options was again suggested to improve service and meal preparation.
Lion G. Ingram will resend his proposal to the club for review. The club will vote on the proposal at next month’s meeting.
LCIF Coordinator – Lion B. Byers
No report.
Community & Youth – Lions R. Burnworth / L. Hawn
Lion L. Hawn requested clarification that the approved donations of:
- $500 to the Belpre Area Veterans
- $250 to Wreaths Across America
will come from the Community and Youth Fund.
No additional report was given.
Membership (46) – Lion G. Ingram
Lion G. Ingram reiterated that Lion B. Merritt is no longer a member.
The club voted to induct Jessica Cline and Jeff Cline as new members.
Club membership now stands at 46 Lions.
Publicity / Marketing – Lion S. Camacho
No report.
Scholarship – Lion R. Ferguson
Lion R. Ferguson reported that an updated scholarship fund balance will be available later this month.
Old Business
Installation of Officers and Awards Recap
Lion B. Hadfield reported that awards remain available for members who were unable to attend the Installation and Awards Ceremony on June 28, and he will coordinate their distribution.
He also noted that Lion G. Ingram was installed as Membership Chair for the 2026–2027 Lions year.
The ceremony had an excellent turnout of members and guests.
Lion B. Byers reported that dues notices for the upcoming year have been mailed.
New Business
Lion J. Greene made a motion to approve the 2026–2027 budget.
Lion R. Ferguson seconded the motion, and it passed.
Lion R. Ferguson also reported:
- Following the Fourth of July Parade at 10:00 a.m., a free lunch will be served at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
- Volunteers are still needed.
- Because of the club’s donation to the 250th Celebration Committee, the club banner will be displayed with the other sponsors and later transported to Belpre for the evening fireworks.
Lion R. Ferguson further reported that the Festival of Living History will be held in Muskingum Park August 14–16. The event will feature historical demonstrations, including old-fashioned cooking and food-related activities. The club’s banner will also be displayed there.
