Thanking AmVets Post 1788 For Their 2022 Sponsorship Bridge of Heroes
Last night, March 14, 2023, our Chairman for the Bridge of Heroes project had the opportunity to present the project at AmVets Post 1788 of Marietta, Ohio and thank them for their sponsorship of our 2022 project.
Their officers welcomed us in for the short presentation and accepted our appreciation award of their sponsorship from last year!
The Bridge of Heroes project was established to honor our community’s military veterans and service members. The flags are displayed on the Putnam Street bridge in Marietta during the weeks of Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day.
Community members are invited to sponsor a flag in honor or memory of their favorite veteran. Sponsorships for the 2023 Bridge of Heroes are $100 and include all three holidays. Each flag will have a tag that includes the name of the veteran/service member, as well as the name of the person, group, or business that purchased the sponsorship.
March 2023 District Convention
Many of our members had a great weekend at the District Convention, celebrating our service and accomplishments.
A big congratulations to Lion Kyle Burnworth, who was awarded the Zone 6 Lion of the Year! This is a huge honor, and well deserved!
A big congratulations to Lion Sidney Marshall, who was honored with the New Voices Service Award. This also was a well deserved award for this new lion!
Our club was also honored with many awards for our service to others, and other lions! We won:

Today, we had the distinct pleasure of thanking our corporate sponsors who helped us make the 2022 Bridge of Heroes possible!

Thank you to Rich and Shay Walters, from Peer Solutions in Parkersburg, for their great program about their expanding services into the Marietta area.
It’s wonderful to see the work they’re doing in our community for those in need, like us!
Stocking the Food Pantry at the Boys and Girls Club
Stocking the Food Pantry outside the Boys and Girls Club in Marietta, OH. A pantry used mostly by homeless folks that giving them a quick meal or snack. A Noon Lions Project that Lion Pat volunteered to help keeping it stocked and maintained.
Christmas Party for 2022
Fun for all – Christmas Party for 2022 on January 27, 2023
Just a few photos from our traditional after-Christmas Christmas party! We enjoyed a wonderful meal provided by Hog Hollow BBQ LLC, a wine and beer tasting with selections from WineTree Vineyards Winery and Old Bridge Brewing Company, and amazing desserts from DaVinci’s Restaurant and Jeremiah’s Coffee House. This group loves to have fun. If you’re looking for a service organization with great people and a lot of heart, you should check us out!
February 1, 2023 Board Meeting
Last night, we had the pleasure of welcoming THREE NEW MEMBERS!!
Welcome to Rob & Kristi Hadfield (who joined us at the Christmas party this past Friday and last night), as well as Carla Archer (who has come to two lunches and last night)! We will have an induction for them, as well as Britani on March 1 at dinner, or at the Zone meeting coming up soon.
We earned our Trex bench! But keep collecting. Lion Brandon said that he would start a new effort and continue to collect from CRJ Vending, who helped us reach our goal of 500 lbs of plastic, to earn the bench.
We decided to be a sponsor of the upcoming GoPacks Community Challenge, and donate a basket against this year!
Bridge of Heroes is well underway in terms planning, and we are upping the total flags on the Putnam Street bridge from 150 to 240! Public and club sales begin March 1. All members can purchase from our internal pool of flags, and the public will be able to utilize our public sales on Eventbrite. Stay tuned for more information!
January 27, 2023 Meeting
Today, we had a wonderful program from Marietta Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Diabetes Education Specialist. We learned all about the different programs and how we might be able to partner with them in service in the future!
We were also able to present them 20 tie blankets for the Sweet and Sour Diabetes Youth Support Group, as well as their Pediatric Care Group.
